Excerpt From Script “His Name Is Jeffery”

EXT. BUS STOP – EVENING

WIDE:

Courtney is waiting at the bus stop hoping Jeffrey will show up. She looks around trying to find him. When she turns back at one point Jeffrey is standing next to her.

MEDIUM:

JEFFREY
You wanted to talk to me?

COURTNEY
(gathers herself)
What’s wrong with you? Hm? I’ve
never even seen you before and now
you just show up in and out and
tell me my friends are going to
die?

Jeffrey is silent.

MEDIUM CLOSE UP:

COURTNEY
Who are you?

JEFFREY
(Doesn’t answer immediately)
They are your friends?

COURTNEY
What? Yes I…

JEFFREY
Then why should it matter? Why
wouldn’t you heed my warning?

CLOSE UP:

COURTNEY
Because I don’t know who you are!

Courtney breaks down and starts to cry. Jeffrey comforts her after a moment then speaks.

MEDIUM CLOSE UP:

JEFFREY
(Almost a whisper)
Hey, has anyone ever told you that
you’re the most beautiful woman in
the world?

COURTNEY
What?

JEFFREY
You really are. Even when you cry.

OVER THE SHOULDER:

Jeffrey takes his hand and wipes away her tears and then goes in for the kiss. We then see Courtney and Jeffrey kiss. When we pan to see Shelby, who is seeing Courtney kissing at thin air.

SHELBY
(Half laughing)
Oh my goodness. What are you doing?

MEDIUM:

COURTNEY
Oh hey Shelby. I um, I didn’t see
you. What are you doing here?

SHELBY
Uh, huh, Well I was going to talk
to you about this Chemistry
worksheet, but seeing as you’re
busy and all…

Shelby laughs to herself as she turns to walk away. Courtney, still embarrassed, turns back to Jeffrey, who she
finds has disappeared.

COURTNEY
(Confused)
Jeffrey?
